Business Development: Leads

Business Development Leads in Firefish allow you to track new opportunities by creating, managing, and closing leads, so you can stay on top of your business pipeline and never miss a potential deal.

Configuration

You can access the lead properties from System Configuration > Properties and select “Lead” under “Filter by”:

In here, you will find your Lead Stage, Lead Type and Disqualified Reason dropdowns.

Your Lead Types and Disqualified Reasons are customisable, so can be added, removed or edited as required:

Your Lead Stages are locked and cannot be modified:

The New, Attempting and Engaged stages are "Active" stages - the lead can be updated and edited when set to one of these stages.

The Qualified and Disqualified stages are "Closed" stages - the lead cannot be modified once it has been set to one of these stages.

Creating, Updating and Closing

Creating and Updating a Lead

A lead can be created from the Lead List or the Leads tab of a Company or Contact Profile.

To create a new lead from the Leads page, select at the top of the page to open the side panel that will allow you to populate the details of your lead. A lead can also be created from a company by selecting at the top of the Leads tab to open the side panel:

A contact can only have one active lead at a time. A linked employer is also required for a lead to be created.

To create a new lead directly from the Contact profile or side panel, select at the top of the Leads tab to display the lead fields:

Once you have added in the required details, select save and your new lead will be created.

Whilst a lead has a stage of New, Attempting or Engaged, it is active and can be updated via the contact side panel. The lead will remain active until the stage is set to Qualified or Disqualified.

Closing  a Lead

If a lead stage is updated to Qualified and saved, you will automatically be taken to the new job page, where details from your lead (Owner, Company and Contact) will be pre populated:

The lead itself will display as "Qualified" on the lead list, and will display on the previous leads list on the corresponding contact and company, as well as the main lead list display.

If a lead stage is updated to "Disqualified", the fields "Disqualified Reason" and "Notes" will display in the leads tab:

Once these fields have been completed and saved, the lead will display as "Disqualified" on the lead list, and will display on the previous leads list on the corresponding contact and company, as well as the main lead list display.

Leads List

The leads list can be found under the Opportunities tab. From here, you will be able to view and edit all of your active leads, as well as view any that have already been qualified or disqualified.

By default, this list will be filtered to display all active (New, Attempting, Engaged) leads owned by the active user, but the advanced filter and owner selection allow you to customise the list to suit your needs.

Companies

The leads tab in company profiles will allow you to see all leads for any contacts linked to that company:

By default, this list will be unfiltered, but the advanced filter and owner selection allow you to customise the list to suit your needs.

Contacts

The leads tab in contact profiles and in the contact side panel allows you to add a new lead, edit an existing lead and view previous qualified or disqualified leads linked to that contact:

Reporting

A "Lead" module has been added to the Reports Dashboard. More information on creating report cards can be found here.
