Marketing your Adverts

Job Alerts

Job Alerts are emails that are automatically sent when users on Professional and Enterprise create adverts on Firefish. Your Job Alerts will be sent to candidates who are subscribed to Job Alerts matching the preferences on your Advert Details:

You can see down the left hand side of the Job Alerts section how many candidates are subscribed and will recieve you Job Alert. The descending numbers show how many candidates there are filtered out of recieving the Alert based on your selections:

You'll be able to see who these will send to in the Prospects Tab.

Customising your Templates

You can customise the Job Alert Template in the system by clicking through Settings > Candidate Portal > Job Alerts.

The General Layout section will allow you to input the company logo as well as any branding colours or fonts which should be used in the email. You can follow our email template editing guide for assistance here.

Make sure you keep the AdvertDetails mergefield as this is the section which will populate all of the information about the adverts.

In the Advert Details tab you can add content to the alert by selecting the required fields from the mergefield drop down. Remember to click Save when you're done!

The Preview tab allows you to view the advert layout and content before being sent to candidates.

In order to test what your email looks like in a candidate's inbox, just enter your email address and press Send Test at the bottom of the preview screen.

Candidate Subscriptions
You can see candidates Job Alerts subscriptions on the Subscriptions tab of their record - this will show you if they are signed up for alerts - daily, weekly or monthly - and the preferences and salary expectations thats will trigger and alert to them.

You can find more details on this here: LINK TO NEW CANDIDATE PAGE

Sending Mailshots

Professional & Enterprise Firefish users can send Mailshots from the Reach tab of the Advert.

Mailshots are similar to Job Alerts however you can chooses lists of candidates to send these out too - giving you the ability to direct these to the most revelant candidates and increase the reach of the advert to your candidate database.

Mailshots can be sent to:

  • Talent Pools
  • Saved Searches
  • Individual Candidates
  • Potential Matches from your associated Job
  • The Considering list from your associated job.

To recieve a mailshot, candidates simply need to be opted into email marketing and selected through the above. Don't worry, we won't send this out if they have already applied, are in the job workflow or due to recieve a Job alert so you can ensure theres no duplication.

To start adding candidates to recieve your Mailshot, start typing into the boxes or select Potential Matches/Considering from the job and Firefish will tell you how many candidates will recieve it.

You can then edit the template before hitting Preview and Send:

Mailshots make it really easy to push out emails to a large number of candidates in your database that are relevant for your advert, massively increasing the advert engagement and reach out to candidates as soon as you have your advert live.

Prospects List

Professional and Enterprise users are able to track click-through and open rates of Job Alerts and Mailshots sent to candidates in the Prospects tab. This lets you see if the advert was sent via a Job Alert or Mailshot and how the candidate interacted with the message.

There are several outcomes that may occur:

  • green fish = candidate has clicked "Apply" but has not completed an application

Note: This does not indicate that they have completed an application; candidates that do complete an application will be listed on the Applications Tab

  • orange fish = clicked through from email

  • blue fish = read

  • red fish = sent

  • light grey fish = pending

  • dark grey fish = unsubscribed

  • black fish = failed

prospect

This information allows you to create a warm lead list of candidates who recieved your Job Alert or Mailshot.

For Example, you'll be able to see candidates who have clicked apply but not completed the application and those who clicked through to the advert from yoru Firefish Site. This means you can utilise this data to reach out to these candidates who will be engaged and on the market to identify why they didn't apply and understand what they are looking for in a new role.
