People Configuration - Contact Settings
Enable contact fields and manage mandatory information
Contact Settings allow you to control which fields appear on Contact records in Firefish and whether those fields are mandatory for users to complete.
You can also manage contact tagging fields and configure automation settings for contact ownership and Firefish Enrich.
To open Contact Settings:
- Go to Settings.
- Select People Configuration.
- Open Contact Settings.

Manage Mandatory Contact Fields
The Contact Details and Phone & Social sections contain the fields available on Contact records.
These fields are enabled by default and cannot be disabled. However, you can choose whether each field should be mandatory.
Available fields include:
- Title
- Job Title
- Employer
- Mobile
- Direct Dial
- X
- VOIP
To make a field mandatory:
- Locate the field within the Contact Settings page.
- Tick the Mandatory checkbox beside the field.
- Save your changes.

When a field is marked as mandatory, users must complete it before they can save the Contact record.
Use mandatory fields carefully to avoid slowing down data entry for recruiters and ensuring you have the required data on all records.
Manage Contact Tags
The Tags section controls which tagging fields are available on Contact records.
Available options include:
- Primary Status
- Secondary Status
- Tags
Each tag field can be enabled or marked as mandatory.

Tags can help recruiters organise, search and filter contacts more effectively.
Configure Automation Settings
The Automation section contains settings that control automated behaviour for Contact records.

Assign Company Owner to Contacts
When enabled, contacts will automatically inherit the same owner as their associated company.
This applies to both new and existing contacts.
Enable Firefish Enrich
When enabled, users can retrieve and verify contact data using:
- A LinkedIn URL
- An associated company website
This feature uses Firefish Enrich.
Access to Firefish Enrich can be controlled through User Permissions.
