What’s new in Firefish: September feature highlights
September Release Overview:
In September, we introduced a powerful set of updates focused on boosting visibility, improving integrations, and giving you more flexibility across Firefish, including:

✅ Email Tracking now live – track delivered, opened, and clicked emails directly in Recent Activity, with the option to switch tracking off anytime.

✅ Major Jobs API upgrade – third parties can now search, retrieve, add, and update jobs, map dropdowns, and add Temp Job shifts via API v1.1.

✅ New Indeed integration – faster 2-hour syncs, automatic advert posting and closing, and seamless application flow straight into Firefish.

✅ Candidate Tags introduced – a flexible new way to categorise and market candidates, with automatic migration of legacy skills data.

✅ New bulk instant message action – for Paymoji users, bulk IMs are now tracked as their own action type for clearer activity reporting.

✅ LinkedIn URL search enhancements – enabling profile lookup and record creation inside Firefish even after LinkedIn blocks external sourcing extensions.

Email Tracking

We’re excited to announce that Email Tracking has now moved from Beta into Live for all Firefish users. This new feature makes it simple to monitor the effectiveness of your email outreach directly in Firefish.
Every email you send is automatically tracked, giving you instant visibility into when a message has been delivered.
Tracking information will be provided when the email is opened (via pixel tracking), or when a recipient has clicked on a link.
All activity is displayed in your Recent Activity feed, so you can quickly follow up at the right time.
Prefer not to track? You can switch tracking off whenever you like from your system email settings.

Jobs API improvements

A comprehensive upgrade to our Jobs API package gives third party access to perform the following functions:
- Search for jobs
- Retrieve job details
- Add new jobs to Firefish
- Update existing jobs in Firefish
- Retrieve a list of all possible dropdown values for mapping
- Add new shifts to Temp Jobs
This endpoint package is available as v1.1 in our jobs API. full technical information is available via our Developer Site.

Indeed

We’ve released a new integration with Indeed.
- Faster job syncs: Firefish adverts update on Indeed every 2 hours (vs external XML feeds that update every 6).
- Automatic job posting: On Firefish Professional and Enterprise, adverts can be published, updated and closed on Indeed automatically.
- Seamless applications: Applications from Indeed feed directly into Firefish against the correct advert.
This update reduces admin, speeds up job posting, and ensures applications flow straight into your CRM.

Candidate Tags Feature

We’ve added Candidate Tags to the Candidate Profile under the Marketing Section, giving recruiters a flexible way to categorise and organise candidates. Unlike Top Skills & Employment Skills provided by the AI CV Parser, Tags allow you to apply your own keywords for marketing, sourcing, or talent pooling. Existing values from the old Skills section have been migrated automatically, so you can continue using your data without interruption via Boolean Search. Candidate Tags behave just like Contact Tags: simple to add, remove, and search within a profile.
Planned Improvements
- Advanced Search & Results – Add Candidate Tags as a discrete searchable field in Advanced Search (Marketing section) and an optional “Tags” column in results, showing the most recent tag.
- Configuration Control – Add an admin setting in People Configuration to manage how Candidate Tags are enabled and used.

New Action – Candidate/Contact Bulk Instant Message

For clients using an active Paymoji integration, we’ve introduced a new action type specifically for Bulk Instant Messages.
Previously, any instant messages sent in bulk, from Candidate or Contact Search, or the Job Workflow, were recorded under the same Instant Message action as single messages.
With this update, Bulk Instant Messages are now recorded as a separate action, allowing users to:
- View and filter them in Action History
- Report on them in User Action reports
- See them in the Reports Dashboard, where applicable

URL Search (Website/LinkedIn)

With the news of LinkedIn blocking the use of the Firefish Sourcing Extension on LinkedIn pages, we are releasing some URL search improvements for all clients.
What’s changing
- From 26th September 2025, the Firefish Sourcing Extension will no longer work on LinkedIn, LinkedIn Recruiter, or Sales Navigator.
- This isn’t unique to Firefish, over the last 6 months LinkedIn has issued enforcement orders to many platforms, both in RecTech and beyond.
What stays the same
- The Firefish Sourcing Extension remains available on all other websites. You can continue to source candidates and contacts into Firefish from company sites, databases, and beyond.
- LinkedIn URL search is now available directly inside Firefish. You can search across both candidate and contact records in Firefish using just a LinkedIn profile URL - powered by Universal Search.
Workaround for users:
Even without the LinkedIn extension:
- Copy and paste any LinkedIn profile URL into Universal Search to find or create a new record.
- Download the LinkedIn Profile PDF and upload it to Firefish.
- Our AI CV Parser and Skills Agent will enrich the record automatically to a higher standard than the Chrome Extension ever did - all while staying fully within LinkedIn’s terms of service.
